WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO ON A TOUR OF MOMBASA OLD TOWN?
Mombasa is a vibrant metropolis which is famously known as a major player of the Indian Ocean trade during the 16th and 17th century. While it is steeped in history and culture, the hectic pace of this modern day city can be overwhelming and most first time visitors tend to miss out on the treasures that this city has to offer. This is where we come in.
Hello, we are a team of natives born and bred in Old Town, Mombasa.
We have extensive experience as professional tour guide and nothing gives us more joy than introducing our city to visitors.
Our tour starts at Fort Jesus, the historical fort that was built by the Portuguese and is now a UNESCO heritage site.
After a tour of the grounds, we will walk in charming alleyways marked by homes and mosques built in the trademark Arabesque architecture.
The walk will take us through to famous landmarks of Old Town such as the Fish Market, Makinnon market, and Mombasa’s oldest Hindu Temple.
We will continue on the the Tusks, an iconic landmark built in honor of the Queen’s accession to the throne, followed by a visit to the Likoni Ferry, a ferry that connects mainland Mombasa to Kilindini Harbour.
The tour ends in Mama Ngina drive where we will get a taste of delicious Swahili snacks such as spiced cassava, batter fried potatoes and bhajias and local drinks such as fresh coconut water and sugarcane juice.
Born and raised in the streets of Mombasa Old Town with intimate knowledge of the area and culture. I am passionate about sharing my culture and home town with others.
In addition to running experiences I also host holiday apartments in Old Town Mombasa.
In my spare time I love writing Swahili poetry.
